I am so so in love with this family and their photos.  Everything just felt so natural and clicked.  The weather was amazing, the late fall colors were dreamy, and there was just the most perfect sunset.  Isabel, Jeffrey, and Matthew were such fun children to photograph, reacting to my jokes even when they weren’t very funny, and enjoying the experience.  If I heard correctly, some yummy hot cocoa was waiting for them post session as well.

As with every growing family, our session was relaxed and focused on real moments.  I know I’ve mentioned it before, but my absolute favorite photos of my family are the real ones- boogers and all!  I may have edited out the boogers form this shoot, but 1992 didn’t have that luxury 🙂

Chester County Family Photography | Raup Family | Valley Forge Park Family Session

Repeat families are so so special to me.  I love seeing how the kids grow and how their personalities become more defined.  I love watching the bonds and relationships within take on new meaning.  And I love, selfishly, the way it makes me feel when a family choose to come back again 🙂  I’m always excited when they do because in the year or more since I last photographed them, I’ve learned new techniques, honed my skills, and evolved my style.

I photographed the Raup family a couple of years ago, at a time when I was just starting to photograph families after taking a hiatus.  At the time, Everett, the oldest, was in Kindergarten where I teach, and now, Asher is in Kindergarten.  Violet still has her golden curls and is still doted on by her brothers.  We somehow managed to pick the most beautiful evening this November and spent it in the fields at Valley Forge Park.  The colors and sunlight were more than I could have ever dreamed!

I am so thankful for this time spent with the Raup family and for their faith in me as a photographer for their growing family. Continue reading “Chester County Family Photography | Raup Family | Valley Forge Park Family Session”

Y’all, family sessions this year have been on point.  I have been having SO MUCH FUN working with families, especially since this Autumn has been pretty mild.  I have photographed the Stedjan family a few times over the past 12 months, catching some of their most important moments, which, with a new addition, there are plenty of.  Fun fact, the last time we shot at this location in Valley Forge Park, Henry was just 2!  And before that, it was for Katie’s maternity session for baby #1!  Time sure does fly.

This particular night was unseasonably warm, but we waited the weather out until the sun settled over the hills in the most beautiful sunset.  Henry and Grant both enjoyed being tossed in the air, exploring the woods, and watching me act silly with their stuffed monkey.  It’s so exciting being able to spend such beautiful evenings with amazing families.

Bryn Mawr Family Photography | Barnes Family

Noon sun is the absolute worst.  Seriously, ask any photographer and they will agree.  You will ALMOST never find me shooting midday unless I have to… or unless the cutest family asks last minute and it just so happens to be beautifully cloudy.  I sincerely believe that clouds are diffusers from Heaven.

The Barnes family was fortunate enough to have clouds and a sleepy town to shoot in.  We photographed their session on Memorial Day, and while all of Bryn Mawr was nursing a holiday hangover, we were gallivanting around this historic town.  With  posing in front of the old movie theater, crossing the walk in Beetles fashion, and all around laughs and giggles, this shoot is not one I will easily forget.
