Stroudsmoor Country Inn Wedding | Molly and Sean | Pocono Wedding Photographer

As the leaves began to change this September, with the changing of the season, Molly and Sean exchanged vows of forever in front of family and friends in one of the most romantic locations in the Poconos.  Twinkling lights and sheer curtains and lush flowers, and roaring fires decorated the Stroudsmoor Country Inn and helped create an atmosphere of secluded love.  After all, we were on top of a mountain!

I first met with Molly nearly 2 years ago.  We chatted about the dreams she had for her wedding, how much she loved Sean, and of course her dogs.  She introduced me to the Steel Stacks in Lehigh Valley where Molly and Sean had their engagement session, and pushed me to challenge myself when she requested video with sound.  There are just some couples who show their emotions on their faces, and Molly and Sean do just that.  Molly was glowing as she walked down the aisle, and Sean was beaming ear to ear.  As they shared their vows, way up in the mountains, there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.  A whirlwind of family photos and hors d’oeuvres led to some alone time for sunset portraits.  For the first time that day, the sun poked through the clouds, and we strolled through the grounds at Stroudsmoor Country Inn in the fading light.

If you haven’t been to Stroudsmoor Country Inn, it’s basically wilderness and elegance and warmth all wrapped up in one.  Floor to ceiling woos, stone fire places, rolled cigars- it’s the perfect place to celebrate!  From their first dance to their last, the new Mr and Mrs Velekei enjoyed every second of their reception.

I am so happy to have been a part of your day, Molly and Sean!

Bucks County Engagement Photography | Tana and Bart | Tyler State Park Engagement

Yesterday I shot my last wedding of the season at McCloone’s Pier House in Long Branch, NJ, and it was so lovely.  Tana and Bart were the most amazing couple and the joy and love they have for one another radiated throughout the day.  I can’t wait to share some of those photos, but in the meantime, I am excited to blog their engagement session from last month!  They, along with their furry pup, Yeager, met me at Tyler State Park in Bucks county, and despite Tana’s sprained ankle, she and Bart made this whole modeling thing look effortless.  We had some clouds and drizzles, and the briefest glimpse of sun, and we may have gotten in trouble by a park ranger or two, but in the end, it was all worth it.

How lucky I am to close out my wedding season with these two.  Keep your eyes peeled for some wedding photos soon! Continue reading “Bucks County Engagement Photography | Tana and Bart | Tyler State Park Engagement”

Ginny and John’s Bloomsburg Engagement Session | NEPA Engagement Photographer | Allie Skylar Photography

Sometimes, I am just lucky enough to work with couples who “get” me.  We share the same humor, the same taste in good food and wine, and the same obsession over dogs.  Ginny and John are one of those couples, and as I sit (lay) typing this at my desk (on my bed….professional over here) this chilly Sunday in November, I cannot help but smile as I remember our time together for their engagement shoot in my hometown of Bloomsburg.

These two are the real deal.  They aren’t afraid of letting their personalities shine and I love that more than I can say!  Despite the HOT weather (I know, they are professional models so they hide the fast that it was sweltering well), we moved and grooved and they showed off their classic fall style and vandalism skills (just kidding!  Just chalk guys!).  I just know their wedding next fall is going to be one for the books!!!  Can’t wait to go on this journey together 🙂

Marsh Creek Engagement Photography | Laura and Mike | Downingtown PA Engagement Photographer

We met on one of the steamiest days this summer up at Marsh Creek in Downingtown.  Laura and Mike suggested the location, and as I had only ever heard the most amazing things about it, I was more than happy to spend the evening along the golden shores, littered with sail boats, kayaks, and swimmers.

My favorite thing about engagement sessions is finding out the personalities of my couples, both as individuals, and as a unit.  Some couples are sassy, some are fierce, and others, like Laura and Mike, are sweet and overflowing with joy.  It was hot, there were bugs, and yet, you would never know it.  i didn’t have to do anything and they just looked at each other with the most adoring smiles.

I’m so excited to be photographing their wedding next spring.  Their joy is infectious!

Philadelphia Orchestra Portrait Photographer | David Kim | Allie Skylar Photography

We met at a local cafe one Sunday morning.  As we sipped our coffees (okay I downed mine because it was the morning after a wedding), we discussed my ideas for the session, about using Philadelphia, the city that had been home to David’s career for 19 years.  We wanted to capture the heartbeat of the city, grit and all.  David said he wanted people to look at the photos of him and see the man he was first, the musician second, and this is when I knew I had found a kindred spirit.
