Genuine Barn at Boone’s Dam Wedding | Ron and Brooke

A genuinely beautiful Barn at Boone’s Dam wedding. There is a reason I love photographing here! Not only is the food by Susquehanna Chef sublime, but the atmosphere is one of charm and elegance. I am lucky enough to shoot here a few times a year, and despite the trek to North East PA, I would do it in a heartbeat.

The Barn at Boone’s Dam in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, is the perfect wedding venue to escape into nature. Located next to a bumbling creek and open fields, you are more likely to find a local barn cat than people.

Ron and Brooke had their May wedding at the Barn, and it was perfect. Despite a little rain right as the ceremony began, this cloudy day led to some breathtaking moments. Ron and Brooke opted for a traditional wedding. Catching their reactions as Brooke walked out of the barn was a highlight of my day. The slightest drizzle began as guests took their seats and Brooke walked down the aisle towards Ron. Fortunately, there was so much joy and beauty happening in that moment, I don’t believe anyone noticed. By the time a kiss was exchanged, the rain had stopped, and guests were ready to celebrate with the happy couple.

So how do you achieve a genuine wedding as gorgeous as Ron and Brooke? Keep it natural, keep it simple, and let the beauty of the day speak for itself. Ron and Brook choose the most incredible team of vendors and charming styles for their day. Brookes stunning lace dress was highlighted by her delicate flowers that packed a punch of color. They used plenty of lush greens and gentle sparkles, yet kept things fun for guest with lawn games and epic late night snacks.

Katie and Andrew’s Pump House B&B Wedding

Bloomsburg Wedding Photography

bride nd groom stand in the woods in the rain at their wedding at pump house b&b in bloomsburg pa

A rainy morning at Pump House B&B in Bloomsburg, PA, set the stage for Katie and Andrew’s spring wedding. What would a wedding in the woods be without some fresh dew making the colors so lush? This was NOT the original date planned for Katie and Andrew, or even the original reschedule, but thankfully, the day was simply meant to be. Married in the woods with their closest friends and family, Katie and Andrew celebrated as though they hadn’t been able to party in a year (hehe…..because it’s true….thanks Covid).

The bohemian flair perfectly mixed with the old pumping station of bricks and metal. Katie and Andrew spares nothing when it came to detail. Feathers and glass and gold- every detail was immaculate.

The Farmhouse at Peoples Light Wedding | Carolyn and Nick | West Chester Wedding Photography

bride and groom run through the streets of west chester pennsylvaniaIt was supposed to rain…. like torrential downpours, all throughout West Chester and the Philadelphia Suburbs.  Carolyn, Nick, and I prepared for their summer wedding with umbrellas and boots, discovered covered areas for wedding portraits in downtown West Chester, and said a prayer or two.  As the morning of their wedding dawned, blue skies could be seen for miles.  To our amazement, the day was dry and overcast, and the rains came at the exact time the reception ended.

Honestly, rain on a wedding day isn’t the worst thing.  It’s inconvenient and bothersome, but there are plenty of ways to work around it!  And with the right attitude, it’s magical.  Carolyn and Nick brought their own blue skies with them.  Their joy was infectious, and I think Mother Nature caught it.

West Chester is one of my favorite places to shoot in general.  I’ve shot at Saint Agnes Parish before, and adore the high dark ceilings and moody stone steps.  There’s nothing quite like photographing a 20 person wedding party on a main street, but West Chester is one of the places to do it!  Motorists and pedestrians are only too happy to share in the festivities.

Carolyn and Nick celebrated with their friends and family at the Farmhouse at People’s Light and Theater.  The Farmhouse offers the perfect marriage of rustic charm and elegance.  Surrounded by fields and lush trees, there is never a shortage of photo locations.

Honestly, this blog post has taken me FOREVER because it has been so hard to narrow down photos.  The photos I take are more than just photos— they’re memories of time spent with people who are incredibly important to me.  There aren’t enough photos or words in the world to show my love for my couples!  Here’s a preview of this most wonderful day! Rose Bank Winery Wedding | Newtown PA Wedding | Steph and Nick

bride and groom share romantic kiss in front of pine tress at rose bank winery photographed by allie skylar photography

Labor Day weekend is meant to be spent at a Winery celebrating love!  This past Labor Day weekend, I had the opportunity to photograph Steph and Nick’s beautiful wedding at Rose Bank Winery in Newtown, PA.  Being a Pennsylvania Wedding Photographer, I am always amazed with the rustic charm of wedding venues scattered across the state, and Rose Bank Winery did not disappoint! From the sweeping vineyards, to the rustic wood details, to the scattering of eucalyptus, as the sun sank low behind the vines, I couldn’t imagine a place I would rather be.

Steph and Nick were married in the lawn under an old oak tree, with curious goats watching from their pens at the rear.  As the party moved inside (and I do mean party—- a wedding that starts off with the bride and groom shotgunning a drink is definitely going to be a good one) and the dancing began, Nick and Steph were beaming surrounded by their favorite people.

Tana and Bart’s McCloone’s Pier House Wedding | Long Branch Wedding | Allie Skylar Photography

light and airy NJ wedding photography at ocean place resort and spa

All in all, 2017 was amazing.  I had some of the best weddings, worked with the most amazing couples, and grew in a way I never thought possible.  The end of the wedding season was an all out sprint, with the addition of family sessions and trying to balance some sort of personal life (hahaha yeah right…).  I can’t imagine a better place to spend the last wedding of the year than the beach.  Sure, maybe not when it’s freezing, but as far as a state of mind, it was the ideal place to wind down.  So thank you Tana and Bart…. not only for being two of the kindest people, but for giving me the opportunity to enjoy the magic that only the ocean can give.

Due to the early cold that hit the shore in November, Tana and Bart opted (wisely) for an indoor wedding, portraits and all.  Their first look was in the Ocean Place Resort, on the Mezzanine high above onlookers.  We roamed the halls of the resort and found tucked away spots for portraits, never lacking any light on the gloriously bright day.  I’m not sure if I have ever seen two people so effortlessly happy!  Looking at their photos, I can almost hear Bart and Tana giggling.

After portraits, we hopped down the boardwalk (hopped…. haha….. battled the gale force winds!) to McCloone’s Pier House for the ceremony and reception.  McCloone’s Pier House in Long Branch is one of my favorite wedding venues!  It sits out over the sand, reaching towards the Atlantic, surrounded by some of the nicest strip of boardwalk New Jersey has to offer.  They have an effortless way of bringing the beach indoors, down to the littlest detail.

I’m pretty sure the glass windows were vibrating as Tana, Bart, and their loved ones danced and celebrated.  A nightcap with pizza and faces tired from smiling, and the last wedding of 2017 is going down as one of the best.

Here are some of my favorites!
