Katie and Andrew’s Pump House B&B Wedding

A rainy morning at Pump House B&B in Bloomsburg, PA, set the stage for Katie and Andrew’s spring wedding. What would a wedding in the woods be without some fresh dew making the colors so lush? This was NOT the original date planned for Katie and Andrew, or even the original reschedule, but thankfully, the day was simply meant to be. Married in the woods with their closest friends and family, Katie and Andrew celebrated as though they hadn’t been able to party in a year (hehe…..because it’s true….thanks Covid).

The bohemian flair perfectly mixed with the old pumping station of bricks and metal. Katie and Andrew spares nothing when it came to detail. Feathers and glass and gold- every detail was immaculate.

Terrain Gardens Wedding | Chelsea and Travis | Devon Wedding Photography

bride and groom embrace under an umbrella before their wedding at terrain gardens in devon pa

Chelsea and Travis had the wedding the couples dream of.  A crisp Autumn day, lush colors all around, and a warmth that hits you like a cloud when you walk in the reception room (lots of dancing bodies will do that!).  While a rain free day would have been ideal, we were armed with umbrellas, great spirits, and just enough breaks in the storm to take advantage of the space at Terrain Gardens in Devon, PA.

Having known Chelsea for a few years, from all of those late nights working for Anthropologie, I was confident that the details of her wedding day would be top notch.  The wood and metal accents, lush soft color pallet, and warm glow of 1000 candles, combined with her and Travis’ classically elegant attire, created an atmosphere that could overwhelm the senses!  Guests were greeted with hot cider, fire pits, and Terrain’s top notch food (flower pot bread included!).

I could ramble on and on about the details of this wedding, but if you strip it all away, it comes down to Chelsea and Travis.  This day was them.  Every element contained a glimpse into their love.  They never stopped looking at each other, or holding hands, and I’m sure they’ll be doing just that in 50 years.

I’m so excited to be able to deliver their gallery to them, and I am happy to share some of their story with everyone else as well!

Bloomsburg Barn at Boone’s Dam Wedding | Meg and Joey | Pennsylvania Wedding Photographer

We met for pizza to discuss wedding photography and we photographed their engagement session at the Creamery at Penn State.  Meg and Joey are fun spirited, head over heels for each other, and know how to treat everyone around them to some really good food!  Their Barn at Boone’s Dam wedding featured make your own pasta, a pretzel and cheese steak bar, a Rita’s cart, and a cookie bar…..oh, and also the cutest couple I ever did see!

Despite a day that surprised us with a mixture of rain and clouds, I can’t imagine a couple more excited to get married!  Throughout the day, they danced in the rain, kissed under an umbrella, and strolled through the lush garden at The Barn.  I f”ell in like” with these two over that first slice of pizza, but watching them enjoy every crazy second of their wedding day, breath in the fresh air, and be in the moment, made me fall head over heels in love with them.

I’m so excited that I will be sending this gallery off soon!  Congratulations Meg and Joey! Continue reading “Bloomsburg Barn at Boone’s Dam Wedding | Meg and Joey | Pennsylvania Wedding Photographer”

How to Use Rain on Your Wedding Day | Bloomsburg Wedding Photography

Bride and groom kiss under an umbrella on their wedding day in Berwick Pennsylvania

This year has been particularly rainy on the weekends, and nearly half of my weddings have been shot in the rain.  I know it is a major fear and concern for any bride and groom, but in my opinion, rain is harshly judged.  It often alters our plans and forces us to reinvent the day, which can lead to moments we never would have discovered!  I always try and see things in the best light, so I will share with you some of the reasons I truly believe rain is a blessing and not a curse.  Now I am not talking about hurricane force rain, but your normal, everyday rain storm.  It definitely should not be cause to ruin your day, and here’s why;

Rain drops create amazing effects on lenses (BE CAREFUL!!!)

Clouds= diffusers from God.

Rain is romantic!

Rainy days make colors more vibrant

Rain often leads to fog which is stunning in photographs

Rain slows things down and helps create a quiet, peaceful atmosphere.

No wedding will EVER be perfect, and the imperfections are what make it special.  Don’t let rain cast a cloud on the memories of your day!  Embrace the challenges and the beauty.  It may be a little harder to see at first, but it’s still there. Merion Tribute House Wedding Photography | Emily and Rob

Rainy mornings are delightful.  They slow everything down and drum a lovely heartbeat.  A slow and steady pace is exactly what weddings need- it’s only one day, it should be thoroughly enjoyed and not rushed!  Emily and Rob were blessed with morning rain and evening sunshine and a wedding with a heartbeat of its own.

Last weekend, as Emily slipped her dress sleeves over her shoulders, she peered out the old bay window overlooking the dewy lawn at the Merion Tribute House and giggled, “There’s Rob!”  The world could have stood still as Emily smiled and watched her husband-to-be prepare for their first look. This was her day and it was filled with little moments that could melt your heart.

As her heels clicked on the flagstones, Emily walked up to Rob and slowly tapped his shoulder.  When Rob turned, it was almost as if he was seeing Emily for the first time.  His face lit with pure love and awe, seeing the woman he would soon be able to call wife.  The day stayed relaxed as Emily and Rob giggled their way through portraits.  They danced under gigantic umbrella tress and kissed in the misty air.  As the clouds cleared, the sun streamed through the windows of the Merion Tribute House and engulfed Emily and Rob in sunlight while they said their ‘I Do’s’.

When I hugged the lovely couple goodbye at the end of the night, I couldn’t help but feel tremendous love for them myself.  Their kindness and love extends to all who surround them and it was no question as to why so many friends and family came to share in this day.  I am honored to have been a part of their day and I cannot wait to share their gallery with them soon!
