Self Portrait Project Week 17

Sometimes, I look around at my everyday environment and it feels stale.  I love where I live, but when it’s the background to your daily life, it can be a little uninspiring.  I LOVE to travel and to see the world in all its glory.  Sadly, I neglect my dear sweet home of Pennsylvania viewing it as too familiar.

I woke up at 4 am this morning and brewed a really strong cup of coffee. I stuffed myself into my car, turned on my seat warmed, and drove north.  I’ve lived by Hickory Run State Park my entire life but have never darkened the doorstep.  It has always been on my bucket list to see the Boulder Field, to see such a sight that was made by nature.  According to the literature, glaciers moved through the area during the ice age and carried these boulders to their resting place.  I was expecting to see boulders on dirt… or rock…. or ground.  But no.  It was LAYERS of boulders, all rocky and shifting.  And I learned very quickly that ballet flats were not appropriate…..

I used the Brenezer method- so the above photo is actually 20 or so photos stitched together.
