Shikellamy State Park Marina Engagement | Amy and Derek

Growing up in Pennsylvania, you know there is majesty in the mountains and stillness in the rivers.  You also know that Pennsylvania Dutch food is hands down the best remedy for a long cold winter and pierogies are their own food group.  But of course, I digress.

I grew up along the banks of the Susquehanna River, quiet literally.  Amy and Derek did as well.  It winds through our home state connecting top to bottom to central.  It was therefore only fitting that Amy and Derek’s engagement session take place along the banks of the Susquehanna at the Shikellamy State Park Marina.

I loved getting to know Amy and Derek and hear all about their plans for a beautiful fall wedding.  We walked the Marina during, yes you guessed it, the heat wave (of course the heatwave hit at a time when I had daily sessions), and Amy told me about how Derek proposed with a scavenger hunt.  We slipped out onto the docks just as the sun was setting behind the mountains and celebrated the beautifully crafted love these two share.

I’m so excited to be a part of this journey with Amy and Derek! Continue reading “Shikellamy State Park Marina Engagement | Amy and Derek”

Destination London Engagement Photography | Tineka and Alex

Destination London Engagement photography_1849

I first met Tineka when we both worked at the same pre-school 7 years or so ago.  We quickly became friends as we navigated the waters of young adulthood.  I adored her strong independent nature (Beyonce who?) and the way she could light up a room with her laughter.  Sadly for me, 6 years ago Tineka followed her dreams to London, where she eventually met and fell in love with Alex.  With her upcoming fall wedding back in the US, it only made sense for their engagement to take place along the banks of the city where they fell in love.

Shooting a destination engagement session  in London was an amazing experience.  The lights, the colors, the people- it’s a city unlike any other and if I could shoot there all day every day, I would.  We started our shoot at Somerset House along the River Thames, and then walked the streets along the banks stopping anywhere that caught our eye.  It was a Sunday morning, so most of the city was still sleeping, which made the shoot feel even more intimate.  Tineka and Alex now live in Geneva, Switzerland, so we made sure to hit up a few spots that are quintessentially London.

I can’t imagine a better way to spend a morning while abroad.  I am so happy to have been able to catch up with these two love birds and to capture some special moments in their lives.  Check out more below! Continue reading “Destination London Engagement Photography | Tineka and Alex”

Newtown Square Engagement Session | Malia and Chris

philadelphia engagement photography_1542Growing up, summers meant lots of time outside.  My siblings and I would come home filthy each day, and we all knew one thing— TV was off.  Now, there was an exception to this rule.  On rainy days, when we couldn’t go outside and the threat of sibling bickering was at an all time high, my sister and I just needed to pull the Anne of Green Gables VHS from the shelf, and my mom would make the pop corn.  We would lay with the fan on high (no AC back then— at least in my house) our eyes glued to what is and always will be one of the best stories ever written.

So wait, why am I telling you about this?  It has absolutely nothing to do with Malia and Chris and their lovely engagement session, right? I promise you it does!  There is a point, so keep on reading! Continue reading “Newtown Square Engagement Session | Malia and Chris”

Lancaster Sunrise Engagement Session | Emily and Rob

Some mornings are just meant to be embraced, watching a sunrise, arm in arm with those you love.  Or in this case, bundled up against gale force winds!  Emily and Rob win the award for most daring couple for braving one of the coldest, windiest days I have ever experienced.  But I guess it’s a poetic parallel to true love; through any storm, through all types of weather, it will endure.  While the wind in Lancaster may have been fierce, the light on this morning was miraculous.  After a long and dark winter, it was a good day.

Emily and Rob are getting married in 2 days and I am so excited to capture this next big moment in their lives. Continue reading “Lancaster Sunrise Engagement Session | Emily and Rob”
