Alright, so as y’all know, I spend my days photographing weddings and engagements and the occasional Pennsylvania family.  Rarely, ever so rarely, do I ever photograph newborns because quite frankly they can be terrifying.  Leif Claus, however, could teach all the other babies a thing or two.

But let’s take a walk down memory lane…. Leif’s parents, Morgan and Tyler, just so happen to be the first wedding couple I ever photographed.  EVER.  Don’t believe me?  Here is proof.

Since then, Morgan and I have taught together for 4 years and become the best of friends.  Last year, we stood by the copier in the cafe as she cancelled our ice skating and lunch plans and blurted out that she was pregnant, and I knew that she and Tyler would be the most amazing parents.  Leif has a lifetime of kitty cuddles, Harry Potter read alouds, gluten free food, and unparalleled love ahead of him.  Here are some of my favorites from his August newborn session! 10 little fingers and 10 little toes.  Babies never cease to be amazing.  So new and so perfect.  Last weekend, at about 4 weeks old, I traveled to Mount Carmel to photograph baby Allison for her Lifestyle Newborn session.  We share the same name, so I was instantly in love!  Allison has the sweetest button nose and a strong personality, especially when she wants to be cuddled.  It’s no surprise that her parents are so absolutely in love with her, as is her puppy sister Eve.   Continue reading “Pennsylvania Lifestyle Newborn Photography | Baby Allison | Mount Carmel Photographer” →

Audubon Lifestyle Newborn Photography | Grant Walker

What is Lifestyle Newborn Photography to me?  It falls somewhere between soft, artistic photojournalism and harsh, realistic documentation—- parallel almost to an old grainy Polaroid.  It’s the type of photo that has life to it and captures a monumental moment.  Lifestyle is raw and real and possibly my favorite portrait style to shoot.

As more years of my adulthood pass, more and more of my friends are having babies.  I love to visit in the hospital and bring hot meals (courtesy of Wegmans) and see my friends become parents.  It’s really quite amazing!  For the last 3 years Kate and Dan have been amazing parent’s to their son Henry, and when they announced in early winter that they were expecting again, I’m pretty sure I was most excited for Henry.  Having a sibling is pretty awesome.  Gosh, there is nothing sweeter than seeing Henry’s practically baby toes as he cuddles his baby brother.

A lot has changed in 3 years since I did Henry’s newborn session (for starters, I no longer do posed newborn), but I’m so glad I have been able to photograph each Stedjan Baby Boy so far (there’s a soccer team coming, right?).

Have you ever seen a little boy lay eyes on his baby brother for the very first time?  Trust me, it isn’t something you will easily forget!  It’s a complete realization that Mommy’s tummy was indeed growing a baby, a baby that is living and breathing and silky soft.  A realization that this baby loves kisses and snuggles and being talked to.  A realization that the phrase “big brother” really means something!  I witnessed this divine moment last week when Henry met his brother Grant, and even without photos, it is a moment I will never ever forget.

Staten Island Lifestyle Newborn Photography | Baby Beckham

I know I’ve mentioned it before, but I just love becoming friends with my wedding clients.  We work together through some of the most beautiful and stressful times of their lives.  A lot of trust is formed, and by the end of it all, we feel as though we’ve climbed mountains together.

One year ago, I was lucky enough to photograph Kaleigh and Brian’s wedding, which you can check out here.  We’ve kept in contact through social media, and I was so excited for them when they shared they were expecting a baby boy.  And then I was absolutely floored when they asked me to photograph their newest addition.  I focus on lifestyle newborn, documenting a family exactly as they are, and this was the laid back documentation Kaleigh and Brian were looking for.

Baby Beckham had an exciting birth to say the least.  He was an early and very big guy!  But oh he was such a joy to photograph!  He smiled and watched as I took his photos, and was calm and happy even with big brother and Tini (the dog) getting in his personal space.  Every detail of his nursery was designed with Beckham in mind, lovingly put together by his parents.  And oh!  The sunlight!  I left a very dreary, rainy Philly (what is up with this sad spring weather?) and when I crossed into Staten Island, it was nothing but sunshine!
