Main Line Family Photographer | de Gennaro Family | Allie Skylar Photography

Gone are the days of family photo session where each family member wears jeans and a white polo….unless you’re in Modern Family.  Today, family sessions are much more relaxed, aimed at capturing genuine moments.  Real laughs where sometimes you can SEE the laughter snort, or sweet tender moments that capture a bond.  Some photos are messy, but that’s the way life is, right?

After a summer of rain and humidity, I was finally able to photograph the deGennaro family on a night that was both humid and rainy!  Like the troopers they are, they rolled with it, and we raced around Ridley Creek State Park, lightning flashing in the distance.  This family of 7 (yes, 7.  Dogs are family members too!) reminded me how much I love photographing families.  I’m booking a very limited number of family sessions this fall, and I would love to have your family in front of my lens too!

So excited to ship off this gallery!  xoxo

Bloomsburg Pump House B&B Wedding | Marguerite and Justin | Philadelphia Wedding Photography

Some wedding days are just downright magical.  And when said wedding is on your birthday, it’s a slam dunk, naturally.  This May 13th Pump House B&B wedding incorporated the best details- twinkling lights, paper cranes, antique chairs, dew covered forests, and the cutest bride and groom (and parents to be!).  Marguerite and Justin were one of the most daring couples, venturing out in the rain to walk around the old pumping station.

I love shooting at the Pump House, located in my hometown of Bloomsburg.  It’s overflowing with charm and originality, not to mention, it’s a wooded paradise.  I’m so excited to send out this gallery in a couple of weeks!  Congrats, Mr and Mrs Gould!

Pennsylvania Baby Photography | Allison’s 6 Month Shoot | Mount Carmel

It’s incredibly hard to believe that 6 months ago I met this little nugget at just a few weeks old.  It really is special to be asked to photograph different stages in a baby’s life.  They change so quickly!  Allison is such a happy baby, though she likes to give the camera some questioning looks.  We lucked out with some random spring-like weather and spent some time outside, catching the last bits of sunshine.   I am so excited to send off this gallery today, but in the meantime, here are some of my favorites! Newtown Square Family Photography | Chung Family | Ridley Creek State Park

Two weeks ago, after a few rain reschedules, I had one of the most enjoyable family sessions ever.  The Chung family scored one of the most beautiful days with glowing sun and unseasonably warm breezes.  We explored Ridley Creek State Park, discovering hidden paths in the gardens and crickets in the fields.  Andrew is in my Kindergarten class, and while seeing your teacher outside of school can be strange (most of my students think I live in the classroom), he was happy to pose with his sisters and make his parents laugh when it was their portrait time.  Soo and Haesung have 3 amazing children with infectious laughs and mega-watt smiles. I am truly blessed by the families that come into my life. I cannot imagine a better way to spend my days!

Christmas Cards.  What will we do for Christmas Cards? Family portraits? It was an odd thought that struck me out of nowhere. How will I ever be able to take a family photo again knowing that our family will be forever incomplete in every picture we take for the rest of our lives?

It occurred to me not long after our 3rd son, Matthew John, was stillborn 10 days before his due date last May that, all of sudden, something so beautiful, so joyous, took on a whole new meaning. I resigned myself to the fact that it would be a very long time before we would be able to take family portraits again – – or ever. Needless to say, we did not send Christmas Cards that year.
